Situated in Seattle's Rainier Valley, Seattle Urban Academy is a positive, alternative, Christian, educational community where at-risk high school students develop academic, social, and spiritual maturity to graduate to higher education and sustained employment.
A MIRACLE IN THE MAKING
Prior to arriving at Seattle Urban Academy in 2010, Emanwella (Ema) Keny was in danger of losing her grip on education. She had no vision of what her life could be. Ema began her journey as a refugee to France from Africa after her mother passed away. From France, Ema travelled to the United States with her aunt. Struggling with the weight of her situation and failing classes, her education—and her only hope for the future—was disappearing before her eyes.
Fortunately for Ema, she found SUA supporter Karleen Kennedy just in time. Mrs. Kennedy brought Ema to SUA, where her story finally began to read differently.
