Deah’s Story | Mission to Nicaragua

This was a week of firsts for Seattle Urban Academy’s Reitrea Crawford. The 17-year-old junior boarded a plane for the first time ever, traveling with a group of students she’d just met, and headed to country she’d only ever seen on a map. Her plane landed in Managua, Nicaragua where she spent a week teamed with King’s High School students to serve impoverished communities in need of a helping hand. From working with her hands to fix and restore a local school to kicking the soccer balls around with kids eager to play, Reitrea stepped out of her comfort zone and opened herself up to a whole new world.
